The 21st Century of Photography

With the onset of the 21st century, photos can be manipulated and altered in many ways using digital imaging and computer aided techniques. Digital photography started a change in photographic techniques and changed the nature of photography significantly.

Nowadays, the number of photos you can take is much higher, so you can afford to make mistakes. Also, a photograph can often be remedied on the personal computer, even if it was spoiled by too much lighting. While that has made photography more beginner friendly, it is still far from an easy hobby.

If you are into photography, you probably want to get better at it. That requires practice - a lot of it. However, it is often helpful to be taught about the theory, too. That’s why online photography courses have become a popular method both for new photographers to get used to the art and for more experienced photographers to hone their skills.

Photography has been present for more than a hundred years and yet new innovations are taking place even this day. Looking at it, one has to surmise that photography will develop again in the future. It’s never too late to get into photography and even now it’s too early to stop learning more about it.

Diecast Diecast Dave

Dave my mate is an avid colletor of diecast cars - he has so many now its almost silly - I go round his house to play ps2 and all I get is “wait a minute I am just going to move my diecast bugatti over there” or “wait thats a priceless diecast dude” - he is quite a moaner - Sometimes I feel like throwing them all away for him so he can get a life - because diecast toy cars are no life for an 18 year old - he should be doing fun stuff like driving a bugatti - not owning a little metal model of it thats badly painted by some chinese slave labour?

Have fun in the capital - The Wheel and Theatrics

Filed under: Artists & Artisans @ 7:32 pm

Our capital is chockablock with magnificent areas to go and see. These are merely a couple of thoughts.

The world famous London Eye is recognised as the Millennium Wheel, & for persons who do not know, the wheel is in fact in reality an observation wheel; and a chance for the general public to appreciate the city from uncounted and differing perspectives from up in the sky.

With up to forty kilometres of breathtaking views on a fine day, the London Eye offers its patrons with astonishing panoramas of our capital and many of its acclaimed monuments. It’s allowed to investigate the Wheel at either evening or the morning - the hard choice will probably be deciding which one wants to do, investigate during the daytime when the landmarks are observable or maybe at night for a really wondrous view of London’s night lights.

Theatreland around the capital has been in London since back in the the early Victorian times, indeed, the majority of the famous theatres are of late Victorian & Edwardian times. All the properties enjoy a stunning character and this can add to the pizzazz of stopping by. West end shows run for a differing amount of time. This is affected by the in takings. You can get london theatre tickets from the Time Out website.

You’ll find that tickets are today not as expensive as they were famous for being, but they’re still not very cheap. If someone orders them punctually a system can often obtain them for a reasonable price. Look out for deals that particular companies may offer. Perhaps it would be nice to go so you can get a delicious meal before the theatre, or possibly reside around one of our capital’s hotels in the evening. Time Out is able to ensure your visit to the theatre more easy - & more satisfying with its traditional suggestions of what are the number one shows to go to in the city & perhaps those shows someone should evade.

Going that extra mile…in your used motor

So I went with it, plunged myself into used car ownership - I thought what the heck its a local garage and I trust the guy, the chances are this used car will last the course and wont give me a ton of agro’. I went round with a wad of cash, passing a big sign saying used cars for sale really big reminded me where I was and what I was about to spend 3800 British pounds on. A used Toyota Supra is perhaps a bit of an expenditure, perhaps it is just a bit crazy. But hell look at it, its black manual and has twin turbo’s - what more need I say. In the world of fly cars and mercedes benz it great to see a little lump of lunacy. I had taken like 20 car quiz’s last night to make sure I was really suited to a 200mph japanese import and they all said the right things, It seems to fit - so here we go….My my,….this supra shifts!!!

Sewing Tips - How To Sew An Easy Centered Zipper

Filed under: Artists & Artisans @ 1:37 am

There are a number of sewing techniques on how to sew a centered zipper. But, this is probably the simplest way to save you from the frustration of having to rip it out and sew it over.

Here are some sewing tips to help you.

First of all, purchase a zipper longer than you actually need to avoid stitching near the bulk of the pull tab. You can use any of your longer zippers in your stash, too.

Preshrink the zipper. This helps prevent buckling later if the tape does shrink.

Interface the garment zipper seam allowances with a lightweight fusible knit interfacing. Cut 2 strips of fusible knit interfacing about 1″ wide on the straight of grain and fuse to the wrong side of the garment zipper area seam allowances.

Stitch your garment seam from the bottom to the mark where the bottom of the zipper will be.

Stop and drop the feed dog on your sewing machine and stitch up and down in the same place a few stitches to sink a knot. Don’t backstitch. You can never backstitch straight and this causes bulk in the seam and never lays well.

Raise the feed dog and set your sewing machine stitch to a large baste stitch.

Continue stitching the seam to the top. Do not backstitch or make a knot. Leave a long tail of thread so it will be easy to remove.

Clip the first baste stitch beyond the knot for easy removal later.

Sandwich press the stitched seam. Press open the seam on the wrong side. Then press again on the right side. Use a press cloth to protect your fabric if necessary.

Extra tip: Brown paper super market bags make good press cloths. Avoid the printed area.

Now, wind a bobbin with “Fusible Thread” and put it in your sewing machine.

Set your sewing machine stitch length to a large basting stitch.

With the zipper face down at the sewing machine, use your regular presser foot and sew from the bottom of the zipper tape to the top on both sides of the zipper. The edge of the presser foot will be along the zipper teeth on the wrong side of the zipper.

The “Fusible Thread” basting will show up on the right side of the zipper tape.

Place your garment with the zipper seam allowance side up on your pressing board.

With the zipper face down, place the bottom metal stop of the zipper at the bottom of the zipper opening and roll the teeth down along the stitching line up to the top. Press both sides of the tape fusing the tape to the seam allowances.

Note: If you don’t have “Fusible Thread”, try using a double sided transparent basting tape or a strip of fusible that you press and adhere to the zipper tape. Then “glue or fuse” the zipper to the seam allowances.

Now the zipper is temporarily held in place.

Cut a strip of 1/2 inch wide paper medical tape or scotch tape the length of the zipper opening.

Draw a fine line exactly down the center of the tape. There should be 1/4 inch on either side of the line.

On the right side of the garment, place this tape over the zipper seam line matching up the drawn line on the tape with the stitching line on the seam.

Set your sewing machine for top stitching. Put a zipper foot on the machine.

Starting at the bottom of the zipper below the metal stop, stitch across the bottom, stop, pivot and continue stitching up to the top of the zipper using the edge of the tape as your guide to stitch straight.

Reverse your zipper foot and stitch the other side across the bottom and up from the bottom to the top the same.

Now, your zipper is installed. Remove the paper medical tape from the right side. Pull the basting thread out from the top. It should come out easily since you already clipped the thread next to the knot.

Warning: Do NOT cut off the top of the zipper until after your waistband is completed. Leave the zipper open. Apply your waistband. Then cut off the excess zipper.

You did it! Admire your centered zipper. It is easy when you know the sewing secrets!

Try it! It just makes sense!

Antiquity Markets

I have been investigating the uk antiquity market and have found some fairly significant findings. It turns out that antiques, collectables and memorabilia are actually almost as popular as art as a genre. There is as much traffic hitting uk art shops as there is hitting uk antique shops on the net. This is a turn up for the books as most people would consider art to be the more modern medium and primarily provide the most traffic. As it turns out Collectable art such as collectable comics score quite highly amongst collectables, followed shortly by more recent art and graffiti such as banksy collectables. Personally I usually opt for a more old type of collectable such as paintings or furniture - in fact I personally own a lot of antique furniture, but I suppose they come more under antiques than under collectables. Memorabilia comes in as third out of the three, providing just 1/3 of the traffic the other two each get - which might suprise all the sports cards and autograph collectors out there!

Awesome Rare Guitars

There are a ton of people out there who love rock music, led zepplin, santana to name a few huge guitar playing music acts. But not many people realise you can actually buy a rare guitar quite cheaply - in fact if you know where to look for rare guitars for sale then it can be a great addition to any musical instrument collection. Saying you own a famous rock-stars guitar is a hell of a discussion point!

Awesome RC Videos

Mostly I view all videos on youtube - its a good central place to start looking for funny videos online. However recently I have come accustom to finding more random well hidden videos - because they are usually better than the mainstream crap you find on youtube.

Example1: I love remote control cars - I love powersliding rc cars, racing radio control cars and muddy jumps in 4×4 rc hummers. So I went looking for some cool rc videos when I found an awesome site to get petrol rc cars - pretty cheap too for the awesome quality they show. They all have proper titanium subframes and awesome shells - they even have a skyline one :D

So next time you feel like typing in youtube.com, msn.com, google.com - then rethink - do a little detective work instead - the net is full of awesome rc goodness.

Tap into your inner artist

I don’t know how many times I have heard “but I’m just not an artist”. Great, you’re in good company. I’m not either. However, I do like to paint & draw. Most of us loved art as children, & then somewhere along the way we got into the mindset that we just aren’t good at it, so we aren’t going to do it anymore. This is unfortunate because we seem to totally shut out the creative side of our brains. Here are a few ways to tap into your inner artist:

1. Bring out the watercolor sets. Most of us have one laying around the house, even if it’s just a child’s set. Find a free art tutorial online & get to work. Watercolor is very forgiving. Try just making splotches of color at first.

2. Don’t be scared of modern art. Even if you just splatter paint on a canvas, the point is to have fun & get used to the idea that you can create art.

3. Paint by numbers are a great way to start. You learn how to mix colors & you don’t have to worry about drawing, you just get to paint which is the fun part.

Above all, just trying something. Get rid of the idea that you aren’t an artist.  So what if you aren’t?  That doesn’t matter, it only matters that you want to be creative.
