The usual stripes

Filed under: Books For You @ 5:21 am

The american’s love their stars and stripes, you cant fault them for their belief in their country.

Perhaps a little misfounded though having only been a few hundred years in the making - windows mediacenter was not taken as historically though by the people - the usual customers went for corporate and professional versions in swarms - the same can be said about t-shirts - ones produced that are all stars and stripes don’t often sell as well as random shirts like Gothic T Shirts - its these products that prove america needs more than just its name to keep going.

And whats more where are all these products made? Am I am talking about cars as well as computers and t shirts - thats right mostly in the middle east, america claims tech dominance but is it really more war tech they dominate?

Romance Novel with Relationship Advice is a Cult Classic

Book Review: “Opening Love’s Door:The Seven Lessons” by Dr. Diana Kirschner

The author’s main point is to help Janna in finding love in the romance novel, “Opening Love’s Door: The Seven Lessons.” Kirschner, carrying out the purpose very well, shows how you have to control all the aspects of your life in order to bring love into it. I feel that the author carried out the purpose of this book very well. The lessons that Raphaela taught to Janna can be used by anyone, whether you are 20 years old or 90 years old, male or female, professional or blue collar, millionaire or in poverty. If you want to better your life and bring the love that you have always wanted into it, then this is the book for you.

The writing by Kirschner was done very well. Each lesson was clearly stated as was how to incorporate it into your daily life. One of my favorite quotes is, “Fear is the signal, the alpha point, while mastery is the omega or end point. Fear tells us where we need to look. It can uncover what we truly desire. Then it becomes a call to action and that is a spiritual gift. The very thing you’re afraid of is the key to the next step of your growth.”

My favorite part of the book was when Janna confronts her uncle about abusing her, starting when she was ten, right after her mother’s death. Janna was able to tell him exactly how she felt about what he did to her with the help of Raphaela. Through these lessons, Janna was able to face her past and move on to her future.

This book was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. There are very few books that have touched me the way this one did. The seven lessons that Raphaela taught to Janna are amazing. She taught Janna how to confront her abuser, air out her differences with her father and comfort her best friend through her death. This spiritual journey that Janna took helped her to put her personal life into focus along with her business. Perfect book for anyone! Five Stars!!!!

The Letter - Review

Filed under: Books For You @ 10:28 pm

As a writer, I think The Letter must have been a very interesting challenge for author Roxanna Russell. This work of fiction is actually a collection of 14 short stories - each revolving around some kind of letter; the Suicide Note, the Closure Letter, Love Letter, Fan Letter and so on. Yet the book is also a novel, in that each chapter is centered on a particular family and each chapter ties into the next.

The three main characters are Mark, his wife, Carol and his son Jack. Mark and Carol meet in dire circumstances, fall in love and raise children who grow into adults with lives of their own. Each major life altering moment is accentuated with an accompanying letter written by someone in the family.

The author’s humor, love and appreciation of people in her live are apparent within the first few pages of The Letter. She brings up issues so subtly that you hardly know they are there. For instance, is it wrong for Jan to sell herself to save her father? I think not. The Letter reinforces that intent is what weighing the rights and wrongs of life decisions really boils down to.

It was both a pleasure and an honor to read The Letter.

My Book of Life (2 Volumes), Oluwadahunsi

Filed under: Books For You @ 10:20 pm

As you open each page of this book and look at the pictures and the prose beneath, you get a great sense of who the author is and what he is trying to say. The gorgeous pictures are of nature; trees, birds, water, sunsets, and sunrises, and his words are telling us to stop the senseless killing and corrupting of our world that cradles and nurtures us. In The Sweet Smell of Wonderful, page 37, the picture is a mountain pond with a snow-capped mountain in the distance, and the prose tells us:

Things of this Earth are what they are
All that is owned is within you
Nothing is possessed that you hold onto to
All are utility if the material.

Likewise, his prose also introduces us to the nature of ourselves, and our emotions like hate, envy, and greed:

Resentment is never still
It tries to get even
Temptation has no boundaries
Anyone can fall prey
Trouble knows no rank
It rankles everyone
It’s the world we live in
No one is living.

The last page of this book is the Letter to Maya Angelou, which is a beautiful poem dedicated to Maya Angelou, the great poet, writer, who changed the lives of so many underprivileged women in Africa.

…I know why the caged bird sings it sings to love
Only in love is there life
To Maya Angelou: When you see the face of Truth you
Fall in love! Thank you, Thank you! Many thanks
Love is lovely handle
Love is home
Love is always good.

My Book of Life, is the author’s life experiences and the wisdom that he has gleaned in his years of living, through experience, study, and mistakes, he writes the lessons that he has learned. The prose and the pictures combined tell us what the author wants us to know; that we are all one.

Oluwadahunsi is just completing his next book of seven volumes of the My Book of Life series entitled: My Book of Life: Little pieces of Heaven, this book is comprised of one and two sentence meditations. It is the second of the seven volumes in his My Book of Life series.

The title, Little Pieces of Heaven, describes the book perfectly as each meditation is exactly that, a little piece of heaven.

The author’s inspirations for these meditations have come from the New Testament Bible. His meditations bestow us with how we can see Truth, God, and Light in our fellow person while journeying on our physical path to enlightenment.

Differing slightly from Letters to Maya Angelou, this book does not have the full color photo on each page, but the richness of the content is enough to stimulate your thoughts and evoke a sense of wonderment at the mystery of the Universe/God.

Often at times the meditations are quite abstract and demand just a bit more time on them, but others are easily recognizable making this book the perfect mixture of daily meditations.

Acting: The Dreaded Monologue Audition

Every actor has one thing in common: auditions.  And the least favorite of all can sometimes be the monologue audition.  The very nature of doing monologues means that you are alone, which is the antithesis of what most actors love about acting: responding to the other person and creating a relationship.

Monologue auditions don’t have to be your worst nightmare, though.  You really can succeed as long as you have a solid acting technique you can use to prepare. When working up a new monologue, make sure you cover these three areas: script analysis, physical preparation, and emotional preparation.  All three parts are equally important to creating a well-rounded, fascinating character.

Some general audition tips will really improve your performance, too.  Auditions are a beast all their own, so make sure you get the skills you need to succeed.  There are some specific audition skills that you might not need in a final performance, but that should definitely be a part of your preparation for auditions.

Most of all, you should have fun with your monologue!  It’s important to find not only a technique that works for you, but that you really enjoy.  Isn’t that why you got into acting in the first place?  You should be able to play and have fun while rehearsing your character.  If you haven’t solidified a reliable acting technique that’s a lot of fun, and that you can use on your own (without relying on teachers or directors to coach you), I recommend checking out the “Knock ‘Em Dead” Acting Technique.  Google it, pick up a copy, and ace your next monologue audition!

Online Audio Books – An Exciting Rescue for Your Most Boring Moments

What is the worst most boring repetitive task in your life right now? Think about it for a second… You know what I mean, don’t you?

Imagine what it would be like if you could find something that could transform these nightmare moments to pleasure, thrill or maybe education.

Ok, you read the answer in the headline but perhaps you haven’t thought about online audio books like this. I hadn’t.

Do you like your daily work? I really hope you do, but what about the commuting part? I know this is a killing for many people day after day. You have found one perfect place to enjoy the latest horror masterpiece from Stephen King.

Think about learning how to master a second language? Imagine your self standing on the Chinese Wall and making intelligent questions to the guide in fluent Mandarin. How many days do you have to go to your main work before you learn your new language?

I have to admit – kitchen work such as washing the dishes and cooking are not my favorite tasks. At least they weren’t. Yesterday I loaded my MP3 player with Timothy Ferriss’s bestseller “4-Hour Work Week” and made a delicious dinner for my wife. I didn’t mind doing it all and I even volunteered to wash the dishes. She was happy and I listened to 4 chapters of one of the best books of the year.

Toss this idea around and you are beginning to see several situations where you can enjoy an audio book because your hands are busy but your mind is free.

What is the definition of boring? Well, if you ask a Tibetan monk – You probably get the answer; nothing. I could agree with that as it’s about how we think. The problem is that it can be difficult to think in the right way in certain situations. This is where the online audio books can help. Choose a title, download it and hit the play button on your favorite MP3 player.

There you are — you love your most boring task!

Great Free E-Books on the Law of Attraction

Hello!

Anyone paying attention in today’s world has been learning the power of thoughts and emotions and the role they play in the reality we inhabit.  The power of movies such as The Secret and What the Bleep Do We Know is that they bring the cutting edge of quantum physics to the mass population in an easy-to-understand way that can be applied practically.  The next big movie, Pass It On, will continue this trend and give yet more ways we can become independent creators of our own realities.

I thought you guys might be interested in this resource: jonpeeoh E-Books - Three excellent e-books, all free, on our role in the universe (We Are God), our ability to manifest our own reality (The Secrets to Manifesting Your Reality), and how to do so (Ten Steps to Manifesting Your Desires).  You can’t beat the price, but you’ll get WAY more than what you paid for.

I’ll be talking about other great resources, movies, books, ebooks, and teachers in the days to come.  The possibilities are truly unlimited and I want to free myself and everyone else of this crappy little ratrace game we’re all so deeply imbedded in.  Life is too big, beautiful and mysterious to spend 50% of it in a dark little cubicle.

     Until next time!

How To Get Your Article or Ebook Started Fast… Time Saving Tips To Get Your Writing Moving..

Filed under: Books For You @ 2:43 pm

As we have all heard time and again (and it’s very, very true),
writing articles for ezines/newsletters and ebooks is a great
way to increase your exposure, brand your name, establish
yourself as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), increase your
subscriber/optin base and ultimately, increase that so-longed
for amount of cash in your bank account.

For some people writing comes easy, others have gone to
school and studied how to write. What about you?

To be honest, in my case, it kind of comes and goes. As you may
already know from my blog, I not only write articles and
ebooks on a variety of business related matters, but I also
like to write fictional stories with a hint of a Dungeons and
Dragons quality (mind you, even those stories have an under-
lying message hidden away - have you found it yet?)

I definitely am not a trained writer (I have even been chewed
out by some very well educated readers about my style) and
I write from the heart and soul. My focus is to try and get the
message across, that’s all that matters to me.

There are some awesome writers and copywriters out there
that create some incredible manuals, wildly entertaining
stories and order-pulling sales pages. I am not one of them.

But I hope to be one day and the only way I know how is to
keep writing and asking all of my readers for their opinions.

As they love to say, practice makes perfect.

But, I know that the writing sometimes comes very hard and
can almost drive you insane because you are suffering from
information overload, or are just plain stuck.

So what can you do when that happens?

A variety of things that I hope will help you too, have saved
my bacon in the past on countless occassions.

First off, I need to clear my mind, so I can totally focus on
what I am doing. There are tons of ways to do this and I am
not going to give you this massive list, but in my case,
a walk out in the forest, or my headphones and some
tunes (depending on my mood) can work wonders.

The next part that always is just waiting to attack me, like
that big mutt behind the fence waiting for the mailman, is
the outline and direction.

Here I use a couple of different methods to bite the big mutt
back as hard as I can.

If I am writing one of my fictional stories, I try to envision the outcome, the end, and then reverse engineer to the beginning.
By knowing the desired ending of the book or story, I can
figure out what had to happen to get to that point, then I fill in the blanks until I am at the introduction.

Sometimes I just start writing, it doesn’t matter what direction
it takes, I can always work other segments in later that tie
everything back together.

Another thing that helps me quite often, especially with
business related articles and ebooks is good, old-fashioned
brainstorming. I take out a piece of paper and write down
everything and anything I can think of that relates to the topic
(I even did it for this article).
It doesn’t matter if I think it’s relevant or valuable or not. Don’t think about what you are writing down, just do it.

Then I sit back after a nice cup of coffee and read through the
list a few times, making little notes on the side of the main
points I see tucked away all over the page.

Finally, I just add the remaining keywords under the main
topic that they belong.

Bingo, my outline is complete. Not only do I have my chapters
ready, even my sub points are in place.

The only last thing before I start letting the creative juices flow is that I try to order them into a logical sequence of some
type. Depending on what I am writing, I might make it more
intriguing to draw the reader in deeper, I might align it to be
more sequential and logical, so it has a smooth flow to it.

The choice is really yours. There are tons of options and
many writers have their own ‘thing’ that helps them get past
the hurdles that all of us come across (and I mean all of us).

From here, it’s bound to be a lot easier to write your story,
article or ebook. All the foundation and legwork is already
done, in place and finished.

Well, there you have it and I hope my past experiences can
help you on your path to success.

Here’s to your success,

Xavier
