Rallies have been around as long as cars, from ‘cart box derbys’ so commonly associated with the American suburbs to the welsh rally’s, tearing up the countryside in places like West Wales and other rural areas to the hyper gt cars or Formula one.

Very few things have as much a following as racing – car’s tuned to perfection – or not – pelting down a loose gravel track or cornering around a welsh bend with precision. Today I will focus on the Rally scene within wales (specifically Westwales). Its been known to be one of the best with lots of variety of vehicle and a natural surrounding area. Growing up in rural west wales has got to infuse a driving style!

The rallys cover wales and also Ireland, cars built, maintained and driven by local garages and their families. Ford escorts are common place with competitions such as the 2WD Welsh Escort Challenge.

Road Rally Championship is another popular race.

In the end west wales, wales and cars seem to be a great mixture – whether it rally racing, quad biking or just simply buying used cars!
