Filed under: Jewelry @ 7:23 am

Have you ever heard about Amberif? It is an annul International Fair of Amber, Jewelry and Gemstones. Once a year (Amberif 2007 has finished 18 March) representatives and owners of wholesale companies, retail chains, shops, galleries and museums, as well as scientists, gemologists meet in Gdansk, Poland. Not only you can see the latest designs in jewelry with amber, but also you can see master jewelry craftsmen at work, listen to seminaries about amber inclusion, Baltic amber history and qualities. Some of the most amazing pieces of amber are displayed by collectors from around the world.

Poland (to be more specific the north part of the country) has been long know for its amber, Baltic amber -perhaps partly as a result of EU accession - this is only recovering from a slightly outmoded image. Experts reckon that the amber jewelry which was until recently treated as with disdain for its archaic design, it is gaining popularity. Interest in unique, exclusive jewelry handcrafted in small series or as individual items, is also rapidly growing.

The general trend within gemstone jewelry market is that customers tend to buy more natural stones, such as Baltic amber and fewer the improved ones, like beryl and quartz. The quality of natural stones jewelry improved drastically in recent years as well. Handcrafted  Jewelry customers ,buying online or from “high street” stores , are looking for a fashionable, classic jewelry inspired by popular styles: Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Victorian etc.
