Each also will get new cabinets, countertops, vinyl and carpet flooring, plumbing and light fixtures, air conditioners and water heaters. Where necessary, new sheetrock was installed.
In addition, each apartment will get laundry hookups. Hagen said he didn’t understand why there weren’t hookups in the apartments before. “They had space for them with an outside wall to vent the dryer,” he said. “So we thought we might as well add them.”
For tenants who don’t have their own washer and dryer, the laundry building will have all new commercial laundry facilities.
On Thursday, Rick Boehrns and his son, Jon, were laying carpet in one of the apartments. Boehrns, of RC Custom Carpets in Sioux Falls, said he and his son were putting down pad and carpet right behind workers who were preparing the floors.
